Does a forced regeneration fix P24A4?

It brings the vehicle out of limp mode, but not for long: if regenerations are not completing on their own there is a reason, and while it remains the filter blocks up again.

Does the diesel particulate filter need replacing?

It is not the first thing to do. On the Ford Kuga Mk1 2.0 TDCi the documented case starts from what is stopping the regenerations completing: replacing the filter without removing that cause leads to the same blockage.

Can the vehicle be driven in limp mode?
