Cookie Policy

This cookie policy is provided for the website https://www.semarepair.com. This document has been drafted taking into account the provisions of European Regulation 679/2016 on the protection of personal data (GDPR), of the Italian Privacy Code (Legislative Decree no. 196 of 30 June 2003) and of the Guidelines of the Italian Data Protection Authority (Garante Privacy) on the use of cookies issued on 10 July 2021.

What cookies are and what they are used for

A cookie is a text file that a website visited by the user sends to the user's terminal (computer, mobile device such as a smartphone or tablet), where it is stored so as to be transmitted back to that website on the occasion of a subsequent visit to the same website.

Cookies are distinguished from one another:

  • on the basis of the party that installs them, depending on whether that party is the operator of the website visited (so-called "first-party cookies") or a different party (so-called "third-party cookies");
  • on the basis of the purpose of each cookie: some cookies allow better browsing by storing certain choices made by the user, for example the language (so-called "technical cookies"), while other cookies make it possible to monitor the user's browsing, also for the purpose of sending advertising and/or offering services in line with the user's preferences (so-called "profiling cookies").

Only profiling cookies require the user's prior consent to their use. The Data Controller is responsible solely for the first-party cookies it installs on the Site; the management of third-party cookies is described below.

Cookies can also be enabled or disabled through the options of your own browser:

  • Internet Explorer — Tools menu → Internet Options → Privacy → Advanced, then select your preferences in the Cookies window.
  • Google Chrome — Chrome menu (button at the top right) → Settings → Advanced → Privacy and security → Content settings → Cookies.
  • Firefox — Tools → Options → Privacy and security → Use custom settings for history → Accept cookies and site data from websites.
  • Safari — Safari → Preferences → Privacy and security → Block cookies.

First-party and technical cookies

The Site uses first-party and technical cookies that are necessary for its proper operation: the storing of these cookies cannot be refused. On semarepair.com they are limited to storing the choice expressed in the banner and browsing preferences, for example the language. On the first visit no measurement tool is active: Google Consent Mode starts with all categories denied and is unlocked only after the choice expressed in the banner. You may change your mind at any time through the link Cookie preferences link at the foot of every page.

The typefaces of the Site are hosted on our own servers and not on Google Fonts: no visitor data is transmitted to third parties in order to display the Site.

Support chat

The Site provides a chat for speaking with a technician. The chat is not loaded when the pages are opened: the provider's script and its cookies come into operation only when the user presses the «Chat with us» button, that is, when the user expressly requests that service. The resulting cookies are technical and serve to recognise the conversation from one page to another. Those who never open the chat transmit no data to the provider of the service.

Third-party cookies and advertising profiling

The Site uses Google services, including Google Ads, in order to offer advertisements in line with the user's interests and to measure campaign results. These cookies are third-party cookies, they are profiling cookies and they are stored only with prior consent expressed in the banner: until that moment the related signals remain denied and Google cannot use them. Consent may be withdrawn at any time through the link Cookie preferences link at the foot of every page.

Google personalization

They serve to show you content and advertisements better suited to your interests. You may freely choose whether to enable them, and that choice in no way affects the use of the Site.

Third-party cookies and statistics

The Site uses Google Analytics 4 in order to understand which pages are read and from which searches visitors arrive, in aggregate form and without any advertising purpose. It is active only after the consent expressed in the banner, thanks to Google Consent Mode: before that choice, Google receives at most an anonymous signal without cookies. The cookies that Google Analytics sets after consent (generally _ga and _ga_*) remain valid for up to 13 months. The Data Controller neither receives nor stores identifying personal data from this tool.

The choice expressed in the banner is remembered on your device for six months (not on an external server) and may be changed at any time through the link Cookie preferences link at the foot of every page.

Your rights

Pursuant to Article 13 of the GDPR, the Data Controller informs you that you have the right to:

  • request from the Data Controller access to your personal data and the rectification or erasure thereof or the restriction of the processing concerning you, or to object to their processing, in addition to the right to data portability;
  • withdraw consent at any time, without affecting the lawfulness of the processing based on the consent given before its withdrawal;
  • lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority, for example the Italian Data Protection Authority (Garante per la protezione dei dati personali).

The rights indicated above may be exercised by means of a request addressed, without any formality, to the contact details indicated at the beginning.
